Gomel (Belarus)

Summarizing the results of the participation of Omsk delegation in the events devoted to the Gomel City Day, as a basis of trade-economical and cultural relations expansion, the Protocol on cooperation between Gomel City (Republic of Belarus) and Omsk City (Russian Federation) was signed on 10 September, 2010.

On September 14, 2013 the Agreement on cooperation and partnership was by signed Gomel and Omsk cities, which settled business relationships.

During the visit of Omsk official delegation to Gomel the Twinning Agreement between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Gomel (Republic of Belarus) was signed in April 2023.

Gomel founded in 1142 is the administrative center of Gomel Oblast. It’s the second-largest city in Belarus (its population is 501.8 thousand people (as of January 1, 2023). Gomel is situated in the southeastern part of the country, on the right bank of Sozh River, 302 km away from Minsk City.

The economy of Gomel City is based on the enterprises of machinery, food, wood, wood-processing, light and chemical industries.

Gomel is a big scientific, educational and cultural centre of Belarus. There are 7 institutions of higher education, 5 scientific-research institutes, creative unions, theatrical and musical groups, and exhibit halls and galleries working in Gomel; about 20 festivals annually take place here.

 

Minsk (Belarus)

Minsk is the capital of the Republic of Belarus, its largest political, economic, cultural and scientific center. Minsk is located in the middle of Belarus, it is the centre of the region and district bearing the same name. The city lies along the Svisloch River. Minsk covers an area of 307.9 square kilometers. The population of Minsk is 1,996.6 thousand people (as of January 1, 2022).

Minsk is divided into 9 city districts. The city is granted a special status of the capital, its charter, coat of arms and hymn.

Minsk is a city of quite an ancient history. It was first mentioned in chronicles in 1067. In 1974 Minsk was awarded the title of City-Hero in the commemoration of its citizens services in their struggle against Nazism during World War II. Minsk is a headquarter of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the place where the Parliament and the Government of the Republic of Belarus are located.

Situated on the crossing of the strategic routes from West to East and from North to South, from Moscow to Warsaw and from Kiev to Vilnius, Minsk is a large transport hub with several bus terminals, a railway station, two airports (1 international) and a metro network.

On the purpose to set up and develop partnership relations on 18 May, 2011 the Protocol on establishment of partnership between Minsk (Republic of Belarus) and Omsk (Russian Federation) was signed. The Cooperation and Partnership Agreement was signed on 3 March, 2013.

During the visit of Omsk official delegation to Minsk the Twinning and Cooperation Agreement between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Minsk (Republic of Belarus) was signed in September 2023.

Mogilev (Belarus)

Mogilev is a city in the east of Belarus, an administrative center of Mogilev Oblast and Mogilev region. 

Mogilev is the 4th in terms of the number of residents (after Minsk, Gomel and Vitebsk) Belarus city. The population is 355,436 people (as of January 1, 2022). In the structure of Mogilev industrial complex the dominating branches are chemical and petrochemical, machine building and metalworking, food processing, consumer goods manufacturing which determine the city’s entire foreign trade turnover.

Extensive network of railways and highways radiating from the city in all directions connects it with the largest industrial and cultural centers of Belarus and Russia.

In the course of visit of the official and business delegation of Omsk to Mogilev on May 15, 2015 the Protocol of Intent to establish partnership between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Mogilev (Republic of Belarus) was signed. In August 2016 during the visit of the official delegation of Mogilev to Omsk on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Omsk city the Agreement on cooperation and partnership between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Mogilev (Republic of Belarus) was signed.

In July 2022 during the frame of the events devoted to the 755th anniversary of Mogilev city the Twinning Agreement between Omsk city (Russian Federation) and Mogilev city (Republic of Belarus) was signed.

 

Burgas (Bulgaria)

Burgas is one of the most beautiful and modern cities in the southern part of Bulgaria. It’s an important economical, administrative and cultural center of Bulgaria. There’s the second largest harbor in Bulgaria, which has 60% of total sea turnover.

Owing to nice climate, warm sea and sands with treatment effects, Burgas is famous as spa center. It’s also well-known by its Burgas mineral bath, which is balneological and mudtherapeutic place of a national level.

The city hosts many cultural events like Festival of Sand Figures and National Flower Exhibition.

While an official visit of the Mayor of Burgas City Mr. Dimitr Nikolov to Omsk City in October 2013 there was signed the Protocol of intention to set-up partnership between Burgas and Omsk cities.

Municipality of Barleben, district Börde (Germany)

Barleben is a municipality in the district of Börde in the eastern part of Germany. It was mentioned for the first time in 1062. In the Börde live about 174,000 inhabitants on a total area of approx 2.400 sq km.

Barleben has developed during the last 25 years of a rural village to an attractive municipality.

Today the administrative district Börde and in the special one is the municipality Barleben a significant economic location in the federal state Saxony — Anhalt.

In Barleben alone, there are about 6,000 employees. 5,800 companies currently employ about 36,000 people. The largest employers in the district of Börde are Salutas-Pharma GmbH, K + S Kali GmbH, IFA Rotorion and Armaturenwerk Hötensleben GmbH. The municipality of Barleben has a total of approx. 1,000 commercial applications, which are part of the chamber district of the industry and chamber of commerce of Magdeburg with a total of 51,000 companies.

In addition to the favorable traffic situation (motorway A2 — European main route Axis Paris-Moscow), the proximity to the state capital Magdeburg is a major reason for the large number of commercial settlements.

 

Pavlodar (Kazakhstan)

On the purpose to broaden mutually beneficial trade-economical cooperation and realization of mutual industrial and investment projects the Agreement of Partnership and Collaboration between Administration of Omsk City and Akimat of Pavlodar City ( Republic of Kazakhstan) on 4 August, 2007.

Pavlodar was set up in 1720. Its population is 330,000 people. It’s an administrative centre of Pavlodar region in the north-eastern part of Kazakhstan. There are oil-refinery, aluminum, metallurgy, machine-building, and tractor factures.

 

Petropavlovsk (Kazakhstan)

On 27 May, 2003 the Protocol of Intention between Administration of Omsk City and Akimat of Petropavlovsk City was signed. On 12 June, 2003 the Agreement of Collaboration and Partnership between cities was signed.

Petropavlovsk City was established in 1752. The population is about 194,000 people. It is an administrative, business and cultural center of North-Kazakhstan Oblast. High speed is reached in production of food staff, energy, gas and water, wood processing.

 

Kaifeng (China)

With a view to establish and develop partnership the Protocol of Intention to set up partnership relations between Omsk City ( Russian Federation) and Kaifeng City (People’s Republic of China) was signed on 4 August, 2007.

Kaifeng was set up 2700 years ago. Being located in the central part of China, it is one of strategically important cities of Henan province. Kaifeng is a large industrial centre with the population of 4,82 million people. It’s one of the seven Chinese ancient capitals, the biggest ware-distributional, agro-industrial, cultural, and tourist centre of Central part of the country.

Kaifeng is a city of chrysanthemum. Annually in October Chrysanthemum Festival attracts amateurs of these flowers from all over the world.

 

Fuzhou (China)

During Omsk City Day festivities on 6 August, 2012 Mayor of Omsk City Mr. V. Dvorakovsky and Deputy-Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government Mrs. Zhang Ping singed the Protocol of Intention to set up twin-city relations between Omsk City and Fuzhou City of Fujian Province of People's Republic of China. On 13 August, 2013 during an official visit of the Fuzhou delegation to Omsk an Agreement on the establishment of friendly exchange relationship between the city of Omsk and the city of Fuzhou was signed.

City of Fuzhou is an administrative center of the south-east Fujian Province, which borders such Chinese provinces as Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, and Taiwan. There are more than 7 million inhabitants on the territory of the city. Municipal economy includes power industry, metallurgy, textiles, electronics, automobile manufacturing, plastics industry, and chemical fiber. Fuzhou and its outskirts has a well-developed agricultural base.

 

Manzhouli (P. R. China)

Manzhouli is the largest land border check point on the Chinese-Russian border. About 60% of all Chinese export to Russia and other Eastern European countries go through this district. Manzhouli is home to administratively independent Cross-border Economic Cooperation Zone Manzhouli and Chinese-Russian Trade and Tourism zone.

Manzhouli has been awarded the honorary title of “All-China cultural checkpoint” three times, “All-China model city which supports the army and takes care of the service families”, “All-China leading city for activities in the sphere of intellectual culture”, “The best Chinese tourist city”, “All-China charming city” and “All-China cultural city” five times.

Every year in December in Manzhouli International Ice and Snow Festival is held which is traditionally attended by representatives of Russian, Chinese and Mongolian cities.<

Official bilateral relations were formalized by the Protocol of Intent to establish sister-city relations between Omsk and Manzhouli on July 31, 2015. A year later, in August 2016 as a part of celebration of the 300th anniversary of Omsk city, the ceremony of signing the Agreement on establishment of sister-city relations between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Manzhouli (the PRC) took place.

 

Urumqi (P. R. China)

Urumqi is an administrative center in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.

This is the main and practically the only major industrially developed city of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, providing 64.5% of its gross regional product.

The basis of economy is agriculture. Oil, textile, iron and steel sectors dominate in the industry.

As a part of the trade and economic mission of Omsk official and business groups in Urumqi in March 2015 the Protocol of Intent to establish sister-city relations between Urumqi (the PRC) and Omsk (Russian Federation) was signed.

In September 2016 in the course of visit of the official and business delegation of Omsk to Urumqi to participate in the Fourth Forum of the Silk Road Economic Belt the Agreement on establishment of sister-city relations between Omsk (Russian Federation) and Urumqi (the PRC) was signed.

 

Puchov (Slovakia)

As a result of mutual partnership between Slovak JS “Matador” and Russian OJSC “Omskshina” that established CJSC Joint Venture Company “Matador-Omskshina”, on 23 April, 1996 Mayors of Omsk City and Puchov (Slovak Republic) signed a Partnership and Collaboration Protocol. The Protocol established sister-cities relations between Omsk City and Puchov.

On 27 May, 2002 Mayors of Omsk and Puchov signed the Agreement about Partnership and Collaboration between Omsk and Puchov.

Puchov was established in 1243. Puchov with the average population of 30,000 people is one of the industrial centers of Slovak Republic. It is famous as a world producer of tires (JS “Matador”) and center of light industry (company “Makyta”).

On 2 August, 2012 the Agreement for cooperation and partnership between Omsk And Puchov cities was re-signed.

 

Antalya (Turkey)

On 27 November, 2012 the Protocol of Intention for cooperation between Antalya City Hall (Turkish Republic) and Administration of Omsk City (Russian Federation) was signed. This Protocol aims to strengthen relations in social and cultural spheres and to cooperate by means of information, technology and experience exchanges, as well as by development of mutual program.

Antalya is a city, harbor in the South of Turkey, administrative center of Antalya Province with a population of 1 510 500 inhabitants. Owing to beautiful nature, blue sea, picturesque mountains, big waterfalls, harbor awarded for its clearance, wonderful resorts, Antalya is known as a capital of tourism.

 

Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic)

On the purpose to enlarge the collaboration between cities and establish partnership, on 10 February, 2006 the Protocol of Intention between Administration of Omsk City and City Hall of Karlovy Vary was signed.

Karlovy Vary City was established in 1350. The population is about 56,000 people. It is the most famous and the biggest Czech resort. It is a city of romantic architecture and wonderful colonnades with healthy springs, international cinema festivals and congresses. It is a producer of glass, china, liqueur “Becherovka”, mineral water “Mattoni”.

 

Jinju (Republic of Korea)

On 18 April, 2006 the Protocol of Intention about Partnership Relations between Omsk City and Jinju City was signed. According to the Joint Statement between Omsk City and Jinju City (October, 2006) the strengthening of over-all relations between cities was favourably looked into. On 4 August, 2007 the Agreement of Partnership between Omsk City and Junju City was signed.

The city was established in the Gaya Era. The total population of Jinju City is about 340,000 people. The city is supposed to be one of the main historical, cultural and educational centers of the South Gyeongnam Province. It has a well-developed industrial structure including transport network, silk production and bio-industry. The slogan of the City Hall of Jinju City is “New Hope and New Jinju”.

 

Tivat (Montenegro)

Tivat is a city in Montenegro, located on the coast of the Bay of Kotor of the Adriatic Sea, the administrative center of the Tivat municipality. The population is about 14,000 people.

The most luxurious superyacht marina on the Adriatic called Porto Montenegro is situated in Tivat.

Due to its excellent geographical position, unique natural beauty, cultural and historical monuments, Tivat occupies a special place on the tourist map of Montenegro. Every year a number of major cultural and sports events are held here, attracting participants and visitors from many countries.

On January 13, 2022, the Protocol on the establishment of cooperation between the city of Omsk (Russian Federation) and the city of Tivat (Montenegro) was signed in order to develop trade, economic and humanitarian ties between municipalities.
